Bound for Adventure

This image is a very special one, being one of King's earliest images experimenting with hand color monochromes.  One of Wayne's first hand-painted images taken in the late 1970s. Children in a daycare group celebrate the warmth of a spring day as they head out for an adventure. Black and white image hand-painted and scanned for output in a limited edition of 100 images, in 2 sizes, signed, with a certificate of authenticity. The image is used for creation of a digitally initialed open edition but otherwise archived and kept only for historic purposes and publications. The original was then destroyed to secure the value of the limited edition. A total of 100 will be printed.

My images often combine elements of photography, watercolor painting and digital craftsmanship. The final images are produced as signed limited edition prints on museum-quality fine art rag paper, created with archival inks and as a more affordable unsigned, open-edition print.

Wayne King humorously refers to himself as a North American "mutt" with a family heritage that winds through his Native American, Canadian and US Colonial roots. His love for the philosophical founding documents and sacred stories and dreams of the Iroquois Confederacy, the US Revolutionary Founders, and the sacred artist, musicans, writers and poets whose works and images are a celebration of the circle of life, blending the real and the surreal to achieve a sense of place or time that reaches beyond the moment into what he calls "a dreamlike quintessentialism" designed to spark an emotional response. Using digital enhancement, handcrafting, painting, and sometimes even straight photography, King seeks to take the viewer to a place that is beyond simple truth to where truth meets passion, hope and dreams.
