A Song Softly Sung - Tamarack and Cattails in a late October Sky  with Poem
Cattails and Larches in a wetland  pond in Franconia, New Hampshire. One original edition of 250 prints of this image is created, signed, dated and with a certificate of authenticity. This image is available as a signed original or an affordable unsigned open-edition print. Signed originals are considered valued works of art because of the artist’s signature and the edition number indicating the rarity. For that reason they are created in limited numbers or a single original. They are printed on very high quality rag fine art paper or canvas or metal. Open-edition prints bear no signature or may have a digital stamp. They are an affordable alternative for people who simply love the work and can be purchased on various grades of paper and sizes to reflect your cost constraints. Their value is purely personal for people who love art and want to display an image.

A Song Softly Sung
 >
Tamarack are the final dancers among autumn’s stars.
Golden needles ignoring all the coniferous rules.
Changing, clinging, willfully waiting, poised for peak performance.
 >
Let the maples have their moment
The oaks, the ash, the sumac too
They will be gone with the gawkers, following the foliage.
 >
Until, until that sweet surrender, gold gilding black bark
As wintery winds, spraying snow, bear other leaves away
Borne, blown, buried in drifts of leafy litter
>
A golden moment, a shining sundance
A song, softly sung, after the symphony has ended
And the audience has gone home.

Wayne King is a North American "mutt" with a family heritage that winds through his Native American, Canadian and US Colonial roots. His love for the philosophical founding documents and sacred stories and dreams of the Iroquois Confederacy, the US Revolutionary Founders, and the sacred artist, musicans, writers and poets whose works and images are a celebration of the circle of life, blending the real and the surreal to achieve a sense of place or time that reaches beyond the moment into what he calls "a dreamlike quintessentialism" designed to spark an emotional response. Using digital enhancement, handcrafting, painting, and sometimes even straight photography, King seeks to take the viewer to a place that is beyond simple truth to where truth meets passion, hope and dreams. With the recent explosion of images generated by artificial intelligence as well as the phenomenon of intellectual property theft, a purchaser has two general choices to make: Purchasing an unsigned, open-edition print, or purchasing a signed original work of art. Purchase of an affordable, unsigned, open-edition print should be done simply because you love the image - or it fits the theme, size, color of others you wish to display it with. Pricing on such images is generally very affordable simply because the value is in the pure joy associated with owning and displaying it.

A signed, perhaps numbered, print - especially with a separate signed certificate of authenticity - takes the image out of the realm of “reproduction print” to the singular collectible artwork realm. Signed images are actually the ONLY way to avoid the multiple conundrums that Artificial Intelligence has brought to the marketplace with art. The artist’s signature signifies its uniqueness and the inherent - present or future value of it as a work of art that has the potential of gaining value as an investment over time. Of course, there are still risks associated with purchasing a piece of art online even one that is ostensibly signed. Direct contact with the artist is usually the best way to resolve other questions and, for that reason, you have every right to expect the artist to provide you with a means for contacting him/her/them directly. We encourage you to email us with any questions you have by contacting Wayne at [email protected] .
