Remains of the Bar
I was invited to photograph the home of Donald Hall and Jane Kenyon shortly after Donald's death and the ensuing estate sale that stripped it of much of the character that Donald and Jane had created during their lives. Like many a New England farmhouse at the back of the building an attached woodshed provided space for both wood and the detritus of life. In one corner antique bottles line the shelf of the woodshed at Eagle Pond Farm in Wilmot Flats, Danbury, NH.
>
From that shelf arose 2 images. In creating them I tried to understand what motivated Donald to create or maintain this collection of old bottles over the years. but my interpretation of the scene was that his grief over Jane's loss led him to keep this as an homage to the days when they were outlaws and wordsmiths together.

Signed originals are considered valued works of art because of the artist’s signature and the edition number indicating the rarity. For that reason they are created in limited numbers or a single original. They are printed on museum-quality rag fine art paper or canvas or metal. Open-edition prints bear no signature or may have a digital stamp. They are a very affordable alternative for people who simply love the work and can be purchased on various grades of paper and sizes to reflect your cost constraints. Their value is purely personal for people who love art and want to display an image.
